The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has filed a petition for the removal of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mbete Mwilu. In what is a clear push for the ouster of the DCJ Mwilu, Haji states that he has established sufficient grounds to facilitate her removal. Embakasi West Member of Parliament (MP) George Theuri is a troubled man after he was accused of embezzling Ksh36.3 million CDF funds. According to the Auditor General Edward Ouko, the 2015/2016 financial year report had some red flags on contracts for three construction projects including a Ksh18 million swimming pool. Defence lawyers in Monica Kimani murder on Wednesday told the court that there was a male adult living with the slain businesswoman Monica Kimani. The lawyers, in defence of prime suspect Joseph Irungu alias Jowie, argued this in the ongoing murder trial of Irungu and her former fiancee Jackie Maribe. Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) woman representative Jacinta Ndegwa has resigned. Ms Ndegwa has cited frustration with the union’s boss Wilson Sossion as her reason for leaving. Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s government has introduced a new charge for every bed in hotels operating in the city. According to the Finance and Economic Planning executive Charles Kerich, the new fee will be known as a city bed occupancy levy. The Employment and Labour Relations Court has temporarily suspended the hiring of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
