After Safaricom, Airtel has now announced new and cheaper data offerings which includes free WhatsApp on the depletion of data bundles. Commenting on the new data offerings announced this morning, Airtel Kenya managing director, Prasanta Das Sarma said, “We are happy to introduce our revamped Amazing data bundle offerings that will also allow our customers to enjoy more data and free WhatsApp that does not eat into their bundles.” The bundles are way cheaper than what Safaricom announced some few days ago. Kenya Airways (KQ) has today announced its financial results which have seen it make a further loss of Ksh 3.992 billion. Faith Nyokabi, 25-year-old woman from Thika town has been arrested and charged for allegedly refusing to breastfeed her 4 month old baby unless her husband paid her Ksh 100,000. Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority (TCRA) has asked Multichoice Tanzania to explain why it is still continuing to offer free-to-air channels in its paid subscriptions. In a notice published in today’s dailies, TCRA is warning Multichoice Tanzania Limited that it has continually ignored notices to cease offering the free channels in paid bouquets offered by the Naspers owned entity. Visa, digital payments provider, and mobile financial services firm Branch have announced a partnership under which  Branch will offer financing to merchants who accept payment via Visa (Visa on mobile or Card). The Branch loans will provide merchants with funds to grow their business through supplemental stock, infrastructure investment, and other key operational needs. Ugandan authorities are determined to tighten control over the websites being accessed by the citizens in the East African nation. Uganda’s telecommunications regulator, Uganda Communication Commission (UCC), has demanded that all ISPs and telcos block local and international blue video sites. According to UCC boss Godfrey Mutabazi, the commission has apparently identified some 30 popular sites which they want the providers to block. Among the identified sites, 17 are Ugandan while 10 are international.
