The Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) Vice Chairman, Erick Chepkwony, collapsed and died in Nairobi. Chepkwony, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) holder, was also the Chief Officer for Finance at the County Government of Bomet. Chepkwony, a member of the board of directors at the Tea Board of Kenya (TB), also served as the Regional chairman for factories falling under zone eight, covering Bomet county in the West of Rift Valley (a KTDA zone). Two people died and another two are missing after major flooding in New South Wales (NSW) left more than 50,000 people under evacuation warnings. The record rainfall, now declared a natural disaster, was caused by a slow-moving area of low pressure and is greater than any in living memory for some residents, according to the Commissioner of the State Emergency Services. A Dutch national who had been jailed for ten years for the offence of indecent act and nine other sexual offences before a children’s court died in hospital in Nairobi after an illness. Police said Jan Int Veld Alias Teacher alias Dad alias Mzungu from Netherlands, 74 died at the Kenyatta National Hospital, where he had been admitted. He was brought to the hospital from Industrial Area prison where he was serving sentence. He died on May 17, officials said. A man and woman were admitted to the hospital with serious stab wounds in a failed murder and suicide mission in Kerugoya Town. The man had attacked and stabbed his former girlfriend outside the local Huduma Centre offices in an altercation on May 19. He then attempted suicide by stabbing himself in the chest and throat. Two minors were burnt to death in a fire incident in Buuri, Meru County. The incident happened in Mutethis area on a rental house on May 19. The mother of the girls aged two and had locked them, in the house and left for errands when the fire broke out. The fire burnt down the house killing the two children, police said. At least two men were shot and killed in an attack by gunmen in Gof Dertu Manyatta, North Horr, Marsabit County. This increased to four, the number of people who had been killed in the area on the same day, police said. The man and woman were a couple and were killed while leaving an event focused on helping Gazans at the Capital Jewish Museum, the event organiser tells the BBC at the scene.
