The decapitated bodies of five men were found on a road in central Mexico, in an area controlled by the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel.  Police were called to a road near the town of Ojuelos, in Jalisco state, on Sunday morning, after plastic bags containing the remains were spotted by drivers. Police are investigating the murder of a 28-year-old woman in Mwagichana location, Rioma, Kisii County. A team that visited the scene said she was found with a deep cut on the neck about 800 meters from Kiomoncha shopping center where she resides with her two daughters aged about five and three years. The motive of the murder, which happened on October 12 is yet to be known. The body was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem. A suspected thug was on Sunday morning shot and killed in a botched robbery incident in Kayole area, Nairobi. The incident happened in Mwengenye area along the Nairobi River, police said. A team of police officers on patrol said they heard screams and responded there. They then saw two suspects running towards Rhemu flats and gave a chase while demanding their surrender. Seven people were gunned down southwest of Johannesburg before the alleged shooter turned the gun on himself, police said Sunday, the latest in a string of mass shootings that have shocked South Africa. Five family members, including a three-year-old boy, were killed at Mokokotlong, over 40 kilometres (24 miles) southwest of Johannesburg in the early hours of Sunday morning, police said. A man in illegal possession of a shotgun and a loaded handgun was arrested at an intersection near Donald Trump’s rally in Coachella, California, on Saturday, police said.  The 49-year-old suspect, Vem Miller, was driving a black SUV when he was stopped at a security checkpoint by deputies, who located the two firearms and a “high-capacity magazine”. A senior politician in India’s financial capital Mumbai was shot dead on Saturday, weeks ahead of key state elections, with police probing the role of a notorious crime gang. Baba Siddique, 66, a local lawmaker and former minister in Maharashtra state, was shot multiple times in the chest outside his son’s office in Mumbai, Indian media reported. Viktoriia Roshchyna disappeared in August 2023 in a part of Ukraine now occupied by Russian forces.  It took nine months for Russian authorities to confirm the journalist had been detained. They gave no reason. This week, her father got a terse letter from the defence ministry in Moscow informing him that Victoria was dead, aged 27. Four men were arrested after cannabis with an estimated street value of €8.5m (£7.1m) was seized by gardaí (Irish police) following a search of business premises in Dublin. Shortly after 15:00 local time, gardaí intercepted two vehicles and carried out a planned search in the Ballymount area of Tallaght, where they found 429kg (946lb) of the drug. Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja said Saturday the third batch of the Kenya police units will be ready for deployment to Haiti early next month. Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua announced a six per cent increase in the minimum wage across various sectors. Mutua said the increase will be effective from November 1, 2024.
