An American woman who disappeared while hiking on South Africa’s Table Mountain has been found dead, officials said.  Brook Cheuvront, a student from North Carolina, was in Cape Town doing an internship at an NGO. The 20-year-old student was reported missing on Saturday after a tracking app she was using while on a solo hike stopped updating and she could not be reached. Her body was discovered on Sunday in a mountainous area near Table Mountain known as Devil’s Peak, police told local media. A father who sent his 17-year-old son to kill rapper PnB Rock has been sentenced to 31 years to life in prison. PnB, real name Rakim Hasheem Allen, was shot dead in front of his girlfriend inside a Los Angeles restaurant by a masked gunman. Freddie Trone, 42, had denied ordering his teenage son to carry out the killing in September 2022, and his defence told a trial he was only an accessory after the crimes, according to The Associated Press. Televangelist Pastor Ezekiel Odero suffered a blow after the Court of Appeal declined to reinstate the license of his Kilifi-based New Life Prayer Centre and Church. Odero’s church was among several closed after their licenses were cancelled for not being properly registered in 2023 in a crackdown. The Governor of Kericho County Erick Mutai has been embroiled in a series of serious allegations, both of personal misconduct and abuse of office. The accusations, which are now part of an official legal filing, paint a concerning picture of the Governor’s alleged behavior both in and outside his office. Detectives are hunting down a suspect who attacked and raped a first year student at the Laikipia University in Nyahururu. The incident has raised security concerns among the students at the institution amid calls for more measures to address any more threats. At least five cases of suicide were reported to police on Sunday alone in a worrying trend. The cases remain under probe even as police say the incidents are on the rise at an alarming rate. A woman was found dead in her house after she had been murdered in a bizarre incident in Huruma, Nairobi County. The woman identified as Eliza Kamba had been missing since Saturday September 21 until Monday September 23 when her body was discovered in the house. Two former senior officials at the West Pokot County Government were arrested for embezzling Sh296 million in bursary funds. The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested the two following investigations into allegations of corruption involving the theft of public funds intended to help low-income students in the county. According to EACC misappropriation took place between the 2017/2018 and 2021/2022 fiscal years. Those arrested include Mary Ngoriakes, the former Chief Officer of Education, and Mathew Arusio, the former County Director of Bursary. A retired Indian high court judge will investigate allegations that a woman was physically and sexually assaulted by a group of police inside a police station in the eastern state of Odisha, the authorities say. After the allegations, levelled last week by the 32-year-old woman and her fiancé – an army officer – led to a huge outcry, four police officials, including three women, were suspended. At least 492 people have been killed in intense and wide-ranging Israeli air strikes targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon, the country’s health ministry says, in the deadliest day of conflict there in almost 20 years. Thousands of families have also fled their homes as the Israeli military said it hit 1,300 Hezbollah targets in an operation to destroy infrastructure that the armed group had built up since the 2006 war. Detectives are investigating an incident in which a medical intern with Gatundu County Referral Hospital in Kiambu County was found dead after suspected suicide.  Dr Desree Moraa Obwogi, 27, was found dead on the balcony of her apartment on Sunday, police and her colleagues said. The motive of the incident is yet to be revealed . She had left a suicide note to suggest the motive, police and the family said.
