A court has found Joseph ‘Jowie’ Irungu guilty of murder. Police are hunting for a robbery with violence suspect who escaped as he was being escorted to Industrial Area remand in Nairobi. Ezekiel Kiarie Njoko who had been charged with robbery with violence at the Thika Law Courts was being transported alongside seven other suspects when he jumped off a moving police vehicle in Landhies area on Thursday at about 7 pm. A woman who police say set up three Kenyans with drugs to Thailand in 2021 leading to their arrest was arrested in Nairobi’s Fedha estate with 700 grams of cocaine valued at Sh2.8 million. Mary Opollo, 52 and her associate Charles Kimani, 23 were arrested in a police operation, which had been in waiting for two weeks. Five Marines flying from Nevada to California died in a helicopter crash, US military officials confirmed. A search-and-rescue operation was launched for the CH-53E Super Stallion after it was “reported overdue” on Wednesday. Financial agreements worth Sh350 billion were been signed during President William Ruto’s visit to Japan between February 5 and 8.  These agreements will support projects and programmes in sectors that are aimed at turning around the economic fortunes of the country. The Government has ordered for a nationwide crackdown on counterfeit seeds ahead of the planting season in March. Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi has announced that the crackdown will target agrovet centers who are selling fake seedlings to unsuspecting farmers.
