The Cabinet Friday approved the Public Audit (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which enhances the independence of the Auditor-General. The Bill also strengthens accountability and transparency in the use of public resources. It empowers the Auditor-General to conduct periodic citizen accountability audits to ensure public participation in the audit. At least 49 Ethiopian nationals were nabbed in two estates in Nairobi as they were being smuggled to South Africa. The first group of 31 was found in a house in Komarocks as they waited for their smuggler to move them. The group aged between 14 and 45 was found in a maisonette that they shared for the past week. Multi-agency teams are investigating an incident in which a helicopter was shot at and damaged in an attack in Kapedo, Turkana County. The private chopper is among those that had been hired by the Kenya National Examination Council to distribute national examination papers on November 1 when the incident happened. Two university students who went missing last week have been found at an AirBnB in Kitengela, Machakos County. The two male students were reported missing by their families on October 29 at Kiambu Police Station. They are said to have separately been lured to their kidnappers by a woman who identified herself as Debbie Zablon. A 21 year student at Rongo University was stabbed to death in a fight over who would clear a bill they had incurred at a local bar.  Abel Pchuma was a third-year student, known to many as Kiddo.
