The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has made leadership changes at the Nairobi County Assembly. New details have emerged on the identities of the two police officers who shot and killed a suspected terrorist in Mwingi, Kitui County. The incident happened Saturday night when a gunman attacked two police officers while driving an official Prado along Mwingi-Garissa Highway. Police are investigating an incident in which a senior police officer was Monday morning robbed of his pistol in an attack in King’eero area, Kiambu County. The inspector of police who is in charge of Mwimuto police post said he was accosted by a gang of three who were armed with pistols and robbed of his Jericho pistol with 15 bullets. Police shot and killed a gunman and recovered a rifle with 23 bullets, two pairs of shoes, sufuria with foodstuffs, and a knife in a dramatic confrontation in Nguni, Mwingi, Kitui County. The incident happened Saturday night, police said adding they suspect the slain man was a terrorist who had lost his direction. Police have camped at a school in Tharaka Nithi following the death of two Form Four students who allegedly died after consuming ethanol at school. The two candidates from Karigini Mixed Day Secondary School are said to have consumed ethanol at the school laboratory, police and the school said. Six people including two civilians were killed and nine others wounded in a suicide attack on a military outpost in the outskirts of the Somali capital Mogadishu Saturday, police said. The attack was claimed by the radical Islamist group al-Shabaab. Witnesses said a suicide bomber drove a vehicle loaded with explosives to the Ceelasha-Biyaha military post in the western suburbs of Mogadishu. Continuing Israeli air strikes on Gaza have destroyed most of a neighbourhood and officials from the Hamas-run health ministry say the overall death toll has risen to more than 4,300 people. Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has unveiled a 10-point plan meant to enhance service delivery across the country. Through his ministry, Kuria said, the government will enhance accountability by implementing Wajibika Town Hall Forums. 70,629 passports are ready for collection, the Interior Ministry has said. PS Julius Bitok on Saturday said that 60,567 passports has been collected by the close of business on October 20. An additional, 43,742 new passports have been printed since the launch of the Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) on September 30. This means 131,196 passports have been printed since the RRI started.
