Super Petrol will increase by Sh5.72 per litre, Diesel by Sh4.48 per litre and Kerosene by Sh2.45 per litre in latest review by the government. This means petrol will cost Sh217.36, diesel will go for Sh205.47 while kerosene will retail at Sh205.06 in Nairobi. The Director of Public Prosecutions Renson Ingonga has directed the Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome to probe Brian Mwenda for impersonating a lawyer. Mystery surrounds an incident in which a woman selling beverages at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport was hijacked while headed to work. Shankara Adan Hassan, 39, has been missing since October 12. She was in a taxi from Eastleigh Section 3 headed for JKIA when the car was flagged down by people purporting to be police officers. The driver told police he stopped at the Likoni bridge along Likoni Road in Nairobi. He said men who were in a salon car flagged him down as he drove ahead of it. BBC journalists covering the attack on Israel were assaulted and held at gunpoint after they were stopped by police in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv. Muhannad Tutunji, Haitham Abudiab and their BBC Arabic team were driving to a hotel when their car was intercepted. They were dragged from the vehicle – marked “TV” in red tape – searched and pushed against a wall. A BBC spokesperson said journalists “must be able to report on the conflict in Israel-Gaza freely”. House Republicans voted Friday to nominate conservative firebrand Jim Jordan for speaker of the House — the latest twist in a chaotic battle for speakership. Brian Mwenda Njagi became an internet sensation on Thursday after the Law Society of Kenya – Nairobi Branch revealed that he was neither an advocate nor a member of their branch. Four suspects linked with the rampant disappearance of mobile phones within the City were Friday arrested by detectives in an operation. This follows an increase in cases of mobile snatching and stealing. Whenever the gadgets are stolen or robbed, they are taken to a shop in downtown for repairs and sent to neighboring countries and sold to unsuspecting buyers. The Azimio la Umoja coalition went to court to seek justice for 75 people allegedly killed by police during protests over the rising cost of living between March and July. The Ministry of Education has released the 2024 schools academic calendar for pre-primary, primary, secondary schools and teachers training colleges. The ministry on Friday said term one will start on January 8, 2024 and close on April 5, 2024. It will run for 13 weeks. Learners will then proceed for half term on February 29 to March 3 for 3 days.
