Those whose passports have been produced by the Immigration Department will no longer receive the documents through the Kenya Postal Corporation. The Immigration Department is said to have terminated the deal to dispatch the documents through the Postal Corporation following complaints of delays in delivering them. Talks are ongoing to resume the deal. And to deliver the uncollected documents, the Immigration Department Wednesday announced a Rapid Response Initiative (RRI) to deliver the passports. Gunmen raided a village in West Pokot and killed a bodaboda rider. Police said the gang raided Sarmach sub-location in the evening hours on September 19 and shot and killed one Longechel Chudang, 18. Police officers responded to the scene and found the bandits had escaped to the nearby bush. The motive of the attack is unknown, police said. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and further processes. Nairobi County contract laborers hired to clean up the Lang’ata cemetery on Wednesday protested over delayed salaries. The workers staged protests at the cemetery’s entrance, claiming that despite dutifully performing their duties, they had not gotten their pay for a period of five months. At least one person was killed and several houses torched in an attack by al-Shabaab militants in Widhu area, Lamu County. Police said the raid happened on Tuesday night when an unknown number of gunmen struck. Witnesses said the gang torched houses in the raid before escaping. No arrest has been made. Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has issued an apology over comments that pump prices will keep on soaring until February next year. Last week, Kuria said fuel prices in the country will continue to rise by at least Sh10 for the next five months.
