At least 73 people died and dozens more were injured after a fire tore through a five-story building in central Johannesburg which housed “hundreds” of informal settlements. Authorities said they have moved through the building floor by floor, searching for survivors and pulling out charred bodies and laying them on the streets. Children are believed to have been killed, according to local media. The fire has now been extinguished, rescue officials said. The order came after the PNU party leader was a no-show to testify in the Arror and Kimwarer graft scandal. The legislator is said to have lost Sh133,785 to one Boniface Kipng’etich Kirui who appeared before Milimani magistrate Gilbert Shikwe. Police are investigating the discovery of a decomposed body of a man at the Bata Shoe Company, Limuru, Kiambu County. The body was discovered by security at the institution on Tuesday afternoon. Police are investigating the origin of cocaine that was seized from four mules in an operation in Kitengela town, Kajiado County. Four foreigners believed to be Tanzanians were arrested and dozens of pellets suspected to be cocaine recovered from their house.
