The British army has reportedly launched investigations into the alleged killing of five elephants including a calf in fires started by its soldiers training in Nanyuki, Kenya. The Daily Mail reports that a fire that broke out on Wednesday jolted the officials into action after four elephants were reportedly killed in the inferno. The defence chiefs are investigating the cause of the fire, which reportedly started when troops cooking a meal on a camping stove accidentally set light to dry grass. A CCTV footage has emerged of six police officers breaking into a bar in Kayole’s Soweto area before allegedly stealing alcohol. Moses Mwangi, the owner of Mossy Tavern Bar and Restaurant, said the incident was captured on surveillance cameras on Sunday night. The Standard Media Group has shut down their city-centre offices at I&M building as it converges its operations to its Mombasa Road office in cost-cutting measures. This is the second time the Moi-owned media house is closing the city-centre offices, in which they resumed operations in March 2017. Police in Nairobi are holding a 40-year-old man for impersonating an Administration Police officer in Lang’ata area. The civilian identified as Gregory Simiyu Mabele was arrested on Friday night while conducting illegal night patrols in Lang’ata’s Southlands area. Unruly Boda Boda riders, who set ablaze Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi’s official car after an accident at Ololulung’a area in Narok, were chanting “hustler” slogans, the Kisii County government said in a statement on Thursday. The angry mob torched the DG’s vehicle after it hit and killed a Boda Boda rider and his passenger at Tegero section of Narok- Bomet road on Wednesday evening.
