Police are investigating an incident in which a 43-year-old man killed his nine-month-old baby by drowning her in a family borehole. Musa Ongaga was later arrested as he tried to die by suicide in the nearby bush, police and witnesses said. Police are looking for a gang that struck Awendo town while hooded and left a trail of destruction on Monday night. The suspects stole about Sh1.8 million from a store, police said. The gang of six covered their faces with balaclavas and was armed with rifles and pistols during the incident. Police have been roped in to investigate the Worldcoin cryptocurrency data collection sessions. The officers visited City Hall on Wednesday to seek information on who booked spaces at KICC grounds and Quickmart outlets to enable the organizers to collect the data. The US government’s credit rating has been downgraded following concerns over the state of the country’s finances and its debt burden. Fitch, one of three major independent agencies that assess creditworthiness, downgraded it from the top rating of AAA to AA+. The controversial Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) should remain, although with some revisions, the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms has recommended. The committee submitted its findings to President William Ruto on Tuesday. The committee suggested reducing the number of learning areas in Lower Primary from 9 to 7 while in the Upper Primary, learning areas will be reduced to 8, and at Junior School, to 9. At least three foreigners were Tuesday deported following their arrest in an operation mounted by immigration officials on illegal immigrants operating in motor bazaars within the city. The operation was mounted on Monday as the officials searched for those deemed illegal immigrants performing jobs that can be done by Kenyans and linked to claims of money laundering and drug trafficking.
