Former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta receives at least Ksh568,218 monthly salary drawn from government coffers, for being the spouse of Kenya’s first president, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, it has emerged. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has suspended Silverstone Air from flying its Dash-8 planes they use for passenger flights for a period of seven days. KCAA has also suspended the licences for Safe Air and Adventure Aloft. This follows a series of accidents that have caused a scare in the aviation industry, forcing the regulator to begin investigations. An event promoter based in the United States has called out singer Esther Akoth for allegedly lying about not receiving payment after her performance. According to the events organizer, Sarah Okindo, madam boss as she is commonly referred to was reimbursed for her services and also received funds for her Akothee Foundation. President Uhuru Kenyatta has appealed to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and local investigation agencies to consider negotiation as a tool to resolve minor tax evasion cases. Speaking on Tuesday at Safari Park in Nairobi during this year’s taxpayers awards, the president stated that KRA should not be weaponised to fight local entrepreneurs. Over 100 staffers at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) are crying foul over the management’s decision to deny them their employment rights.
