Pevans East Africa Limited, the company that owns betting firm Sportpesa, is on the spot for failing to remit taxes amounting to Ksh14.9 billion to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). KRA accuses Sportpesa of failing to withhold 20 percent tax from winnings, as per the stipulations of the Income Tax Act. Online retailer Jumia engaged in massive fraudulent practices in a bid to list in the US stock market, a new research has revealed. In a 12-page report published by Citron Research, a stock commentary website, it is alleged that Jumia ballooned its numbers before listing the US bourse since its key investors were leaving.
