The police have warned against a pyramid scheme operating in the name of NMK Capital Investment Limited that has over time pooled thousands of gullible investors who are now crying foul. The suspicious company believed to have been registered in the country in 2021 has seven directors, among them one Ngugi Mucheru Keeru (NMK) who is also the sole Director and signatory of a sister company Bidsworth Autorents Capital Limited. The taxman announced changes among top managers, which saw former acting Commissioner General Rispah Simiyu named the Commissioner Domestic Taxes Department (DTD). Simiyu acted as the acting CG from February 2023 to August 24, 2023 when Humphrey Wattanga Mulongo was named the new boss. This prompted the new changes announced on September 7, 2023 officials said. An attempt by the state to have a Somali businessman denied bail on grounds that he is a threat to national security was declined by a Makadara Court. The prosecution had sought to have Abdi Yusuf Ali denied bail claiming he had been using an identification card belonging to Abdi Yusuf Ali a brother to Abdirahman Mohamed Kuno alias Gamadhere. A man was arrested in Rwanda after the discovery of more than 10 bodies buried in a hole in the kitchen of his home in the capital Kigali, police and media reports said Wednesday. Police said the 34-year-old suspected serial killer had lured his victims from bars to his rented home in a Kigali suburb. Marsabit Senator Mohamed Said Chute has petitioned state agencies to probe Sh2.1 billion payments which he alleges were made irregularly by the county government. Chute petitioned the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to open an inquiry into the payments.

A suspect was shot dead in a confrontation with police in a village in Nyeri County. Police said they shot and killed Joel Kariuki who was wanted for robbery after he allegedly tried to attack one of those in the mission with a panga. Police and Kenya Power officials are investigating an incident in which a 29-year-old man was electrocuted at a car wash site in Diani, Kwale County. Emanuel Simiyu died on the spot after the Wednesday incident, witnesses said. He was washing his tuktuk at Erali Car Wash Kona Musa when he was electrocuted. The deceased was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Cases of electrocution are on the rise with officials blaming the trend on illegal power connections. Police are investigating an incident in which an Egyptian national was found murdered in his house in Gikambura shopping centre, Kiambu County. The body of Awny Karim Arisha Gouda, 45, was found in a pool of blood in his sitting room on Tuesday long after he had been murdered. The motive of the murder is yet to be known, police said. Kenyans traveling to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will no longer be required to get visas. DRC on Wednesday abolished visa requirements for Kenyans traveling to the country. Multi agency teams are investigating the cause of death of two bodies recovered from a tunnel dug on the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) fuel line in Kisumu. The second body of a middle-aged man was on Wednesday retrieved under the tunnel, police said. This was the second body to be retrieved from the tunnel after police discovered a fuel siphoning racket from members of the public. The United States has targeted a top Sudanese paramilitary official in the highest-profile use of sanctions since the current conflict began in Sudan. Police in Zambia arrested the wife of former President Edgar Lungu on three charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, which she denies. Esther Lungu who is currently in detention in the capital, Lusaka, has been arrested along with three others. Nigeria’s Appeal Court Wednesday rejected one challenge to Bola Tinubu’s narrow victory in February’s presidential election. After a six-hour verdict, they said the appeal by Peter Obi’s Labour Party was without merit and dismissed all his arguments, including fraud. A manhunt was launched for a former soldier suspected of terror offences who escaped from prison on Wednesday morning. Daniel Abed Khalife, 21, was awaiting trial after being accused of leaving fake bombs at a military base. He escaped from HMP Wandsworth, London, and is thought to still be in the city. He is 6ft 2ins and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, red, white chequered trousers and brown steel toe cap boots, police said.
