Police in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam arrested a Kenyan woman after more than 2.3 kilograms of cocaine were found hidden in her luggage upon her arrival at Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The narcotics were valued at about Sh27 million in the international market. Vietnamese media said the Kenyan identified as M.M.N., was detained after the airport’s baggage scanning staff discovered two bags of cocaine concealed in her suitcase on July 14. The Financial Reporting Centre (FRC) will now impose sanctions for violations of the proceeds of crime. This follows the Cabinet’s approval of the draft Anti-Money Laundering and Combating of Terrorism Financing Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2023. If enacted by Parliament, the anti-money laundering agency will have the power to show the instances under which it might request the revocation of a reporting institution’s license. The Bill enhances the penalties for violations of declarations for cross-border currency, aligning them with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards. Emails intended for the US military’s “.mil” domain have, for years, been sent to the west African country which ends with the “.ml” suffix. A 30-year-old man was hacked to death in a family feud in a village in Mau Summit, Molo, Nakuru County. Dominic Makori was attacked by his nephew with a crude weapon on Sunday morning and hit in the head. Makori had arrived at Tegat Village from his Kisii home to visit his other family members when the incident happened, police and the family said. Police are investigating an incident in which armed thugs shot and injured a shopkeeper in Busia Town in a robbery incident. The attendant told police three men arrived at his M-Pesa shop on a motorcycle and forced their way in during the Sunday night incident. Detectives have exhumed 12 more bodies from mass graves in Shakahola Forest, Kilifi County, on land linked to cult leader Paul Mackenzie.
