Posters for the new The Mummy film have been banned from the London Underground and other billboards after regulators said they included realistic depictions of a dead child. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received 30 complaints regarding the promotional campaign for the Lee Cronin film and said the posters must not be displayed in areas where children could see them. Many complainants argued the imagery was distressing for both children and adults. Warner Bros defended the campaign, stating it had been prepared with “due responsibility to consumers and society” and was not designed to create fear or offence. The poster…

A fashion brand has had an advert banned by the advertising watchdog which it said was “glamourising smoking”. Jaded London, whose clothes have been worn by Beyoncé and Kylie Jenner, used a picture of a woman on holiday holding a cigarette in one of its marketing emails. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) said the advert was “heavily stylised and presented the model in a fashionable and attractive manner”, which made smoking seem appealing. Jaded London argued that the cigarette was not the “focus of the ad” but agreed to not use pictures of models smoking in future. The ASA’s rules…

The latest artificial intelligence (AI) tools from Anthropic and OpenAI went to new extremes in trying to undermine a popular platform during testing by the UK’s AI Security Institute. The AISI said on Tuesday that Anthropic’s Mythos and OpenAI’s Sol models engaged in a level of “autonomy and deception” it had not seen before. During routine AI safety testing, an Anthropic agent created fake profiles of real people as it tried to trick a person standing between it and access to GitHub, a large platform where technology developers store software code. Anthropic and OpenAI noted in response to AISI’s report…
Artificial intelligence is enabling 55 per cent of reported cybercrimes across Africa making attacks faster, more scalable, and increasingly difficult for victims and platforms to detect, according to INTERPOL’s African Cyberthreat Assessment Report 2026. With more than 1.1 billion mobile subscribers recorded in 2025, Africa’s digital transformation is expanding rapidly. However, cybercrime legislation is fragmented and AI readiness in law enforcement agencies remains alarmingly low. The 40-page report draws on survey data from 36 African member countries and highlights a defining shift: cyber-criminality has evolved from isolated incidents into an industrialized, borderless ecosystem. East Africa emerged as a hub of…
