Cliff Momanyi, the Kisii-based medical officer who was reported missing after testifying in the Sharon Otieno murder case, is safe. Momanyi’s wife, Mary Kimaiga, confirmed on Friday morning that the medic had called to assure the family that he is safe and sound in Gesonso area within Kisii County. Deputy President William Ruto’s allegations of a plot by his rivals to rig the August polls will be investigated by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions. This is according to Wafula Chebukati, the Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). Chebukati said on Thursday that the electoral body has already forwarded the matter to DPP Noordin Haji for action. Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has directed police to release all motorcycles impounded during a recent crackdown on Boda Boda riders across the country. Speaking during a national convention for Boda Boda reforms held at the Kenya School of Government, Matiang’i said all the bikes should be released by the end of the day. Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has pulled out of the Kakamega gubernatorial contest. Khalwale, a Deputy President William Ruto stalwart, withdrew his bid to support Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala who is seeking to succeed Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who is serving his second and final term. At least 840,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have expired with the government citing vaccine party among a section of Kenyans. Speaking at a press conference in Nairobi on Wednesday, Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr Mercy Mwangangi said Nakuru County recorded the highest number of expired vaccines at 35,000. Russia has lifted travel restrictions imposed on travellers from Kenya. The Russian Embassy in Nairobi confirmed on Tuesday, March 22, that the restrictions had been reviewed in the latest decree of the Russian Government. The embassy noted that Kenyan students can now apply for visas in readiness for their travel. “Dear Kenyans! The Mount Kenya University on Saturday launched the Churchill Institute of Performing Arts to promote the creative industry in the country. Named after renowned entertainer Daniel Ndambuki alias Churchill, the school will be domiciled at the Mwai Kibaki Convention Centre.
