Marjan Hussein Marjan has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). Police have launched a probe after bodies of two men were discovered in an abandoned car in Ruiru, Kiambu County. According to the officers who visited the scene, the bodies, found in the backseat of the vehicle, had gunshot wounds on the chest and head. Three suspected thugs were on Wednesday morning shot dead after a robbery gone wrong in Kahawa West, Nairobi. Police reports indicate that the miscreants were gunned down after an attempt to mug a cop at around 5am. Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been banned from travelling to the United States of America over graft. In a statement to newsrooms on Tuesday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said four members of Sonko’s family are also affected by the ban. Blinken confirmed that the US is designating the ex-county boss due to his involvement in significant corruption. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has refuted claims by Keroche Breweries that the taxman had crippled the company in the guise of collecting taxes. Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja on Friday accused KRA of frustrating local entrepreneurs. She disclosed that KRA had shut down its plant in Naivasha over Ksh322 million tax arrears, threatening the livelihood of more than 250 direct employees. A school head has been arrested in Kirinyaga after barring a candidate from sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams over fee arrears. Security teams have intensified operations after suspected bandits raided Kapkosum village in Mochongoi, Baringo South, disrupting ongoing national exams in two schools. A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend after an argument on Sunday. John Gitau Mary is alleged to have stabbed Phoebe Kaele in Utawala area, Nairobi, after the latter found the soldier with another woman, in a suspected love triangle. Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria could be guests of the state soon over alleged graft, Kahawa Tungu has learnt. The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) has recommended graft charges against the duo in separate cases. Kenyans will dig deeper into their pockets as the cost of cooking gas is set to hit a record high, Kahawa Tungu has established. In the latest changes set to take effect on Monday, March 7, Rubis Energy has announced plans to increase the cost of refueling Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders by at least 15 percent. This represents a nearly Ksh400 increase in the normal pricing. Police in West Pokot Central have launched investigations after a junior officer assaulted his boss after a disagreement. A police report indicates that John Moilem slapped Julius Motanya, an OCS at Lomut Police station, after being summoned for absconding duty. Moilem had been assigned to man a national exams container at the station but is said to have skipped work forcing the police boss to summon him. The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has revealed the most dangerous roads in Nairobi amid a worrying trend of fatal accidents. In the latest report, Outering Road is ranked as Nairobi’s leading highway to heaven.  The road accounted for 44 of the 371 fatal accidents recorded in the city in 2021. Following closely is Waiyaki Way which claimed 38 lives and Mombasa Road with 29 deaths. The residential building under construction by a company identified as Stable Engineers LTD caved in last night and could come tumbling down any moment.
