A ‘Wiser’ Supreme Court Will Strike Out Petitions Challenging Uhuru’s Re-election – CS Balala Says

Najib BalalaThe Jubilee party is positive that the Supreme Court will strike out two petitions challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election.

According to CS Tourism, Najib Balala, the cases filed on Monday by former Kilome MP Harun Mwau and activists Khelef Khalif, Njonjo Mue are not plausible.

Speaking at Mama Ngina Girls’ Secondary School, the CS said: ”I believe the Supreme Court is wiser and has analysed the negative impact of the repeat elections. Every day we delay, every day it counts on losses.”

He noted that while it is within the petitioners rights to go to court, the economy had suffered in the past six months due to the heightened political tension.

”It is good that the people have gone to petition because we want President Kenyatta to be vindicated from the rest of the opposition and be declared by the Supreme Court to be the winner of the 2017 presidential election. If you did not go to court, do not blame the judiciary of doing the right this this time round.”

The petitioners have said that the October 26 Presidential election was not held in strict conformity with the Supreme Court judgement that nullified the August 8 election.

The cases, should they go through the preliminary stages, will be heard on Monday, 13 November.
