The departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid appears to have opened scoring opportunities to Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema who were initially under fire.

The future of the Welshman and the Frenchman always seemed uncertain with focus placed on Ronaldo, who was free scoring and the face of Bernabeu.

The Portuguese move to Juventus broke the jinx and Gareth Bale is on his way to being the face of Madrid and he is justifying that in the pitch too. The former Tottenham man scored yesterday to take his season tally to four goals from three games making him La Liga Santander top scorer.

The 29-year old is followed closely by club mate, Karim Benzema who has three goals. The 30-year old scored a brace against Leganes this weekend as Los Blancos cruised with a 4-1 victory.

And the Kings of Europe have a new talisman. Sergio Ramos has scored two goals in the last four league games making him a free scoring defender. With the absence of Ronaldo, the captain took over the penalty role where he has scored in every opportunity. With the league just beginning, and not penalties likely to come, brace yourself for a highly prolific Captain Fantastic Sergio.

And if you were keen, the fans at Bernabeu were demanding for UEFA Player of the Year, Luca Modric to be awarded the Ballon as new signing, Thibaut Courtois made his debut and conceded his first goal for Los Blancos through a penalty kick.
