A 14-year-old boy who had been missing for two days was found dead in a water pan in Gwakungu, Nyandarua County.
The Grade Seven pupil at Karagoine Comprehensive School, was reported missing on October 1, 2026.
According to police, a 10-litre jerrycan was spotted floating on a water pan about 400 metres south of the family’s home at around 8.30am on Saturday.
The discovery raised suspicion among family members that the boy could have drowned, prompting them to alert police.
Officers from Gwakungu Police Station responded and mobilised local divers to search the water pan.
At about 9.30am, the divers recovered the body of the missing boy from inside the water pan.
Police said there were no visible physical injuries on the body.
The scene was documented before the body was moved to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
And police in Murang’a County are investigating the death of a 55-year-old man whose body was found at Kamahuha Shopping Centre.
James Irungu Ngugi was found dead on a temporary structure within the market in Kamahuha Location on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
The incident was reported to Sabasaba Police Station at about 9.10am by a member of the public.
Officers from Kamahuha Police Post and detectives from DCI Murang’a South visited the scene and found the man’s lifeless body. Police said there were no visible physical injuries on the body.
Preliminary information from witnesses indicated that the deceased had allegedly been seen the previous evening being pushed out of a lorry whose registration number was not recorded.
He was later reportedly seen seated at the scene and sweating profusely.
Police processed and documented the scene before moving the body to Murang’a Level Five Hospital mortuary.
The body is being preserved pending an autopsy to establish the cause of death and circumstances surrounding the incident.
Meanwhile, police in Nyamira County are investigating the death of a 38-year-old woman following a reported domestic dispute with her husband.
The incident was reported at Getare Police Station on Saturday, October 3, 2026, after the body of Vane Kerubo Morunya was discovered at her home in Omonayo B Village, Mokomoni Location, within Kiabonyoru Division.
According to police, Kerubo had reportedly quarrelled with her husband over an undisclosed domestic matter at about 8pm on Friday.
The disagreement allegedly escalated into a physical fight.
The following morning, at around 8am, the couple’s children reportedly woke up and found their mother lying unresponsive on a seat in the sitting room.
Police officers visited the scene and found that the woman had multiple bruises, which investigators suspected had been inflicted using a blunt object.
Her husband reportedly fled after the incident and police have launched efforts to trace him.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Our Lady of Mercy Ibara Hospital mortuary for preservation and postmortem examination.
The autopsy is expected to establish the exact cause of death as investigations into the incident continue.
