Chris Cuomo is a prominent American journalist and television broadcaster, best known for his work in cable news and his ties to a famous political family.
Born Christopher Charles Cuomo on August 9, 1970, in Queens, New York, he is the youngest child of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo and Matilda Cuomo.
He earned a law degree from Fordham University and initially worked as an attorney before transitioning to journalism.
As of 2026, he hosts the primetime show Cuomo on NewsNation, where he has been since 2022, and has recently launched a new weekday morning program, Cuomo Mornings, on SiriusXM’s P.O.T.U.S. channel, featuring listener-driven discussions and interviews with political figures.
Siblings
Chris comes from a family of five siblings, raised in a household shaped by their father’s long career in New York politics.
His older brother is Andrew Cuomo, the former governor of New York who served from 2011 to 2021.
The two brothers, separated by a 13-year age gap, developed a close, almost father-son-like bond during their childhood, with Andrew often taking on a protective role.
Chris has three sisters, namely Margaret Cuomo, the eldest, who is a prominent radiologist; Maria Cuomo Cole, a film producer and chairwoman of the nonprofit HELP USA, married to fashion designer Kenneth Cole; and Madeline Cuomo, a lawyer.

Career
Cuomo began his professional life as a lawyer after graduating from Fordham School of Law, but he soon shifted to media.
He started as a correspondent and political analyst at Fox News before joining ABC News in 1999.
At ABC, he rose quickly, becoming the chief law and justice correspondent, co-anchor of 20/20, and news anchor for Good Morning America from 2006 to 2009.
His investigative reporting covered major stories, including the September 11 attacks and legal issues.
In 2013, he moved to CNN, where he co-hosted the morning show New Day until 2018, then anchored the primetime program Cuomo Prime Time.
His tenure at CNN ended in 2021 amid controversies related to his involvement in advising his brother during a political scandal and separate allegations.
Since joining NewsNation, Cuomo has rebuilt his career with a focus on independent journalism, interviewing leaders and covering breaking news.
His recent addition of a SiriusXM morning show expands his presence across platforms.
Accolades
Cuomo has won multiple Emmy Awards, including a News Emmy for his Good Morning America profile of 12-year-old poet Mattie Stepanek, making him one of the youngest correspondents to receive the honor.
His work has also been honored with a national Edward R. Murrow Award for breaking news coverage, George Polk and Peabody Awards for team reporting, a Gerald Loeb Award for business journalism, and an American Bar Association Silver Gavel Award for investigative coverage of juvenile justice.
