The labor court has ordered the reinstatement of 157 Kenya Airways technicians and engineers who were sacked by the national carrier.

The workers were sacked by Kenya Airways after they staged a strike demanding for a higher salary. They had demanded that the National carrier raise their salary to match up the amount being offered by the Middle East carriers.

Kenya Airways maintained that the engineer  and technicians had held an illegal strike that warranted their dismissal. They claimed that they had already restructured their pay grade in April 2017 after the same workers went on strike in December of 2016 and that the current demand was purely greedy.

“These workers don’t have genuine grievances. They are participating in an illegal industrial action. Honestly, they are being greedy by asking for more money,” KQ chairman Michael Joseph had intimated to Business Daily In November of 2017.

The Labor court has now ordered  Kenya Airways that the sacked workers should be reinstated with immediate effect.
