Detectives are investigating the murder of a 70-year-old man whose body was found lying in a thicket in Ngerenya area, Kilifi County.

The man is believed to have been murdered after being assaulted. The body had decomposed when it was discovered on January 8 in the Tezo area, long after his suspected murder, police said

The motive of the murder was not established immediately. An identification card found in his pockets identified him as Emmanuel Randu Hare.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said and added they were pursuing the killers and motive.

Elsewhere in Rabuor, Kisumu County, a man was found unconscious in his house after an assault by unknown people. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said and identified him as Austine Ouko, 38.

The motive of the fatal attack was not known. The locals said four men known to the deceased had attacked him.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures as the hunt on the suspected assailants went on, police said.

And police were called to Delmonte Kenya farm in Muranga after a section of workers there went on strike. The workers said the farm had hired a different company to handle jobs that they had been doing for a living.

This has led to job losses on dozens of workers. The workers on January 8 went on strike demanding an audience with the management over the issue, forcing police to visit the scene.

Police said operations which included picking of fruits, transportation and processing were affected.

No ugly incident was reported in the drama. Their union officials said they were engaging the management to find a solution to the stand-off which spilled to Friday January 9, 2026.
