A Dutch national who was caught on camera hurling insults and spitting on police officers at Diani Police Station was arraigned at the Kwale Court.

Police said there was a diplomatic push to deport the suspect, identified as Elwin Ter Horst.

This is also followed by his remorsefulness and move to apologize.

The Dutch national said that he was suffering from stress that caused him to lose his mental composure on the day of the incident.

“I had a psychosis; I need my medicine… I did not have water and food for a long time,” Horst further stated, identifying himself as ‘Mufasa’.

But police said they are determined to take action on him.

Horst was caught on camera shouting at officers, and went on gobbing and hawking saliva and mucus at a male police officer in the station.

Horst had been detained at the station on Tuesday evening while drunk and was expected to be arraigned in court to answer to charges of assault, malicious damage to property, creating a disturbance, and possession of narcotics.

It was also established that he was staying in the country illegally, as his passport had expired.

Msambweni Police Commander, Robinson Langat condemned the act of abuse, warning foreign nationals who violate Kenyan laws that strict legal action will be taken against them.

There has been reactions online with Kenyans calling for prosecution and punishment on the foreigner.
