The Kenyan government has launched the eVisa portal to address the needs of travelers who wish to come into the country.

The website which is developed by the same company behind ecitizen.go.ke, Webmasters, will see all foreigners travelling into Kenya process their visas through the portal. Nationals from 17 countries will however not be able to process their visas online but will have to physically appear at a Kenyan consulate.

The portal is linked to the immigration database of foreigners and Kenyans enabling verification of applicants. The portal was meant to be part of the eCitizen portal but the government decided to launch it as standalone and then merge the two at a later stage. It will be available on evisa.ecitizen.go.ke
