Facebook could be set to start the roll out location based features within the next month or so according to Adage website. It is being reported that the social media giant will be integrating location based information like Foursquare which was once rumored to be on target of acquisition by facebook.

McDonalds are said to be already showing interest in the location services, and the chance to tap into Facebookers’ enormous number. This service might roll out first in US with a very immediate roll out in UK and the wider Europe.

Asked directly about the local features, Kevin Colleran of Facebook said: “We’re still trying to figure out what our strategy is.” He went on “When we launch, whatever our product in that space, we will figure it out.”

With a huge social community already heavily engaged in the platform, the prospect of allowing Foursquare to bring in local social information and geo-location social games is certainly an exciting one.
