A farm worker was killed in a fire incident in his house in Mai-Hihi area, Karai, Kiambu County.

The deceased was identified as John Kingoo, 47. He was sleeping in his servants’ quarter house when the fire broke out on October 28, 2025, police said.

The remains of the victim were discovered long after the fire was contained by locals.

It is not clear what caused the fire, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.

Elsewhere in Kabarnet, Baringo County, seven workers were injured when a building under construction collapsed at the local Kenya school of Government – Baringo campus.

Police said a four storey building that was under construction at the said facility, whereby the concrete was being laid on the third and fourth floors outweighed the formwork and collapsed.

Seven workers at the site sustained injuries and they were rushed to Baringo county Referral Hospital for treatment.

Police visited the scene and announced an investigation had been launched into the same.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the discovery of 35 bullets in a house in Kisumu’s Milimani area.

A tenant who used to be in the house had left the new generation of 9mm bullets in his house.

It is not clear if the tenant was a licensed gun holder, police said. The police were informed by the cleaner that she had stumbled on the box with the bullets in one of the boxes in the house.

The team took away the bullets for safe keeping and investigations.
