“Feelanga Free” is a Promotion and CCK Wont Intervene in Price Wars

When Airtel launched the much talked about Feelanga Free Everyday promotions, the CEO was categorical that the tariff was permanent and not promotional as thought out. But that story seems to be changing now that one of the operators (probably Orange) wrote to CCK to seek clarification of whether the new tariff by Airtel was a promotion or a permanent tariff. It is a promotion.

The statement from the CCK Director General read “network operators are free to adopt business models that suit them. Matters of cost structures and profitability are therefore left for the determination of individual operators.  The mandate of the Commission is purely guided by the Sector Legislation and Regulations in force.”

It would be interesting to get a reaction from Airtel on their non disclosure or misleading the public on their tariff which is an offence according to the Information and Communications (Tariff) Regulation, 2010.
