Gor Mahia Unhappy With Godfrey Walusimbi’s ‘Illegal’ Move To South Africa’s Club

Gor Mahia tactician Dylan Kerr is displeased with want-away Ugandan defender, Godfrey Walusimbi, for leaving the club without permission.

Walusimbi was a no show yesterday as K’Ogalo edged out Posta Rangers in a rescheduled KPL match in Kisumu fueling speculations over his whereabouts.

Speaking to Kahawa Tungu from the lake side city, the Englishman revealed that he has not been in touch with the left back, who is rumored to be in South Africa for a possible move to Kaizer Chiefs.

“Walusimbi has decided to go AWOL and I’m not happy, he has done a dishonorable thing and gone without permission.

He’s reportedly in South Africa and if that’s the case then the chairman (Ambrose Rachier) will make a statement because he’s in breach of contract,” the Malta-born manager said.

Rachier confirmed that Walusimbi did not inform him that he was headed for South Africa and he told Kaizer Chiefs chairman, Kaizer Motaung, who called him on Friday that he was not happy with the “illegal” approach they took in trying to get the player.

“I wasn’t aware that he (Walusimbi) was going, I only heard that on Wednesday he was at the South Africa’s embassy looking for a visa and that on Friday he was in South Africa.

I got a call from the chairman of Kaizer Chiefs, apologizing for taking the wrong route but still saying that we can talk and I told him that I took a strong exception to what they did and that I would have to consult my executive committee before I can respond to them.

“He accepted that they were player tapping which is against FIFA statutes. I still don’t know how Walusimbi got his employer’s letter to help him secure a visa,” Rachier added.

It is not the first time Walusimbi is leaving the club without permission.

Earlier this year he left the club while demanding to be played part of his sign on fee that was pending after he renewed his contract and refused to train despite the chairman committing to clear the balance.

His absence was loud as the club lost a crucial CAF Champions League match away to Esperance de Tunis that denied them a historic spot in the group stage.

Gor would recover to book a place in the Confederation Cup and are currently topping their group with two matches to quarter-finals.

Walusimbi is still validly contracted to Gor till 2020 but Rachier has stated that they cannot refuse to let him go if proper channels are followed and terms are agreed upon.
