Gor Mahia were Sunday officially crowned FKF Premier League champions for the 2025/26 season, extending their record as Kenya’s most successful club with a 22nd league title.

It was a day of pomp, colour and celebration at Nyayo National Stadium.

Kogalo secured the championship with two matches to spare after their arch-rivals AFC Leopards dropped crucial points, confirming Gor Mahia’s dominance at the top of the table.

The title caps off another successful campaign for the green army, who maintained consistency throughout the season to finish ahead of the chasing pack.

In their final match of the season at Nyayo Stadium, Gor Mahia faced Nairobi United in front of a jubilant crowd that had gathered to witness the trophy presentation.

Nairobi United emerged 1-0 winners, but the result did little to take away from the celebrations as Gor Mahia lifted the league trophy at the end of the match.

AFC Leopards finished second in the standings after a campaign that saw them remain in contention for much of the season.

However, they were unable to close the gap on the eventual champions.

At the other end of the table, Bidco United and Sofapaka were relegated after finishing 17th and 18th respectively.

Kariobangi Sharks, who ended the season in 16th place, will now wait to determine their fate through the promotion and relegation playoff.

With the league title secured, Gor Mahia have earned the right to represent Kenya in next season’s CAF Champions League.

The country’s representative in the CAF Confederation Cup is yet to be decided and will be determined in the FKF Cup final on June 14 at Kwale Stadium, where Tusker FC will take on Kenya Police FC.

As the curtain comes down on the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season, Gor Mahia once again find themselves at the summit of Kenyan football, adding another trophy to their rich history and reinforcing their status as the country’s record champions.

Hundreds of fans marched on the streets to celebrate the win.
