Ten-man Gor Mahia edged out Tusker FC 1-0 in a rescheduled KPL match at the Kenyatta Stadium – Machakos on Wednesday to move to second in the table standings.
K’Ogalo found themselves a man down in the later minutes of the first half after goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch was sent off for handling outside the box.
Coach Hassan Oktay pulled out George Odhiambo for a second keeper Shaban Odhoji as he was forced to reorganize his side.
But still the record champions ended the half more dangerous and with more attempts at goal.
The trend continued into the second stanza and in the 57th minute former Zoo FC forward Nicholas Kipkirui netted the lone goal with a superb header from a corner.

Gor Mahia, who beat NA Hussein Dey of Algeria 2-0 on Sunday in the Confederation Cup, missed more clear chances to bury the match with Samuel Onyango, Jacques Tuyisenge and substitute Dennis Oliech the biggest culprits but they managed to defend gallantly to secure the three points.
“Week in week out we miss a lot of chances. I still believe that even with 8 men, we can still create chances. I’m proud of my boys,” Oktay said after the game.
Gor Mahia move to second on the log with 29 points – two off leaders Bandari FC.
The team will next travel to Algeria on Friday for the return match against NA Hussein Dey on Sunday.
