The government Friday said it redeployed Kisii National Polytechnic Principal Tom Mulat, caving in to two days of relentless pressure from the local political leaders.
It was, however, not immediately disclosed where he was transfered to.
A letter signed by the College Deputy Principal, Administration, Nyakoe George said he would do the handing early Tuesday.
“Mr Mulat has been deployed elsewhere and a handing over-raking over ceremony has been scheduled on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, 8 00 am within the college.”
“You’re hereby asked to prepare the necessary documents including departmental inventories in readiness for the handing over,” stated part of the letter.
The principal has served a tumultuous a half a year tenure in Kisii.
His redeployment stems the erstwhile planned demos Tuesday to push him out.
On Wednesday, two former Ward Reps – Samuel Apoko (Kiogoro) and Kefa Mrefu (Kisii Central) accused the Principal of graft and nepotism.
They also spoke of ‘unsettling lay offs of the locally sourced staff” engineered by the principal.
They further cited lethargy saying it was already causing unnecessary delays in projects at the insititution.
Consequently, they asked Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogamba to order a probe into the ongoings.
Later, student leaders from the Polytechnic, at a press conference, accused their principal of high handedness.
On Thursday, Ogamba said he had already ordered a probe even as students planned demonstrations to compel his removal from office .
