The State Department for Livestock Development, in partnership with the Kitui County Government, plans to set up a Beef Feedlot System and a Livestock Training Institute (LTI) in Yatta Kwa Vonza Ward, Kitui Rural Sub-County.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, the two government bodies invited residents, civil society groups, NGOs, and other stakeholders to take part in a public participation forum on the proposed project.
“The main purpose of this forum is to inform and gather inputs from the public on the proposed developments,” the notice stated.
The public forum is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) in Kitui town. The meeting will begin at 10:00 am.
Those unable to attend in person are encouraged to submit their comments or written memoranda via email to pslivestock@kilimo.go.ke, or hand-deliver them to the Principal Secretary for Livestock’s office at Kilimo House, 6th Floor, during official working hours (8:00 am – 5:00 pm) by Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
