A jinxed man hacked his separated wife to death in an incident in Kabati, Muranga County.

Pauline Warugu, 35, succumbed to her injuries in hospital after the attack on December 16 in Riandegwa area, police said.

The deceased was with her mother, and they were headed to till in their local piece of land when the said assailant, who had trailed Warugu to the area, struck.

He hit her in the head before escaping.

She was rushed to Kenol hospital, where she was treated and later referred to Murang’a General Hospital where she was undergoing treatment before she succumbed to injuries.

The suspect was later nabbed by locals who beat him up before presenting him to the police.

The body of the woman was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy while the assailant was detained pending arraignment for murder.

Police said the woman had escaped from the man’s home over claims of domestic violence.

And a herder was killed and 31 heads of cattle stolen from a farm belonging to a politician in Lolgorian, Narok County.

The body of the herdsboy was found in a thicket with multiple injuries hours after the unknown number of attackers had struck and escaped with the cattle.

Police said the cows were driven away and efforts to trace them are ongoing. The area has been experiencing a rise in cattle rustling amid efforts to address the menace. This has escalated to tribal clashes that have displaced dozens of locals.

Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Eliud Lagat said they are pursuing those behind the attacks in the Angata Barrikoi area.

“We are profiling all those behind the menace and will be coming for them soon,” he said Thursday.

Elsewhere, police in Othaya, Nyeri County clashed with a group of boda boda riders who were opposed to an operation launched to check on conformity to the law.

Police had to shoot to the air to disperse the group that hit back with stones and twigs.

A police vehicle was damaged in the chaos.

Police said 12 motorcycles with modified exhaust pipe were detained.

Police have been ordered to carry out operations on motorcycles that have been modified to endanger other road users in many ways.
