johoMombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho has told off President Uhuru Kenyatta over the remarks made on Tuesday at the Kongowea Market.

President Kenyatta asked the traders not to pay monies for services not rendered by the county government.

The governor has however said that his government will still collect taxes from the market traders.

Through the County’s Communication Director, Richard Chacha, Joho has said that the head of state has no authority to make such a declaration. He noted that the markets were devolved.

“Markets are devolved so no such order can be issued,” Chacha told PLive.

According to Mr Chacha, the President was only to start a war between himself and the ODM deputy party leader.
