A court of appeal judge has been apprehended in connection with the murder of golfer and Dutch businessman Tob Cohen.

Judge Sankale ole Kantai was arrested on Friday within the capital and has been taken to DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road.

According to the Nation in a piece dubbed “Intriguing Tale Of Judge and Murder Suspect”, a judge who is believed to be Kantai is said to have helped a murder suspect now believed to be Sarah Wairimu Cohen, craft reports to the police.

The judge was in Kisumu for a workshop and was residing at Acacia Premier Hotel and staying with him in Room 405 was the suspect. He paid for her air ticket via Mpesa and sent a driver to pick her up from the airport.

The daily details a love affair whose timeline is unknown with a pinch of business dealings.

In one of their conversations, the judge said, “Good morning. Driver left five minutes ago. He is coming for you.”

To this, she replies, “Ok love.”

The Nation reports that the two stayed together until the next day when she was summoned by the police to record a statement at Kilimani Police Station.

He again paid for the air ticket via Mpesa.

After recording her statement, she is said to have scanned the copies and sent them to the judge. She said, “This is what the police have recorded; peruse, add/remove what is necessary and return …”

He received the copies and sent them back to the suspect who returned them to the police.

Police are said to have filed both reports but the last was without a signature.

Cohen, a former Philips East Africa boss went missing in July and was found in a septic tank two months later within his Kitisuru home.

His widow, Sarah Wairimu is the prime suspect in the gruesome murder.

She was charged alongside Peter Karanja in November. They are both out on bail.
