The team decided to block out the brand Kenya message as a result of not receiving the money as promised only to later realize that Kenya Rugby union had used their money to repay an overdraft  in the bank stating that the players would have to wait for them to receive other funds.

In the apology the Kenya Rugby Union claims that the government through the ministry of tourism has committed to support the Kenya sevens team for a period of three years
