The Kenya School of Law has announced a vacancy for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the School said it was searching for a committed, dynamic and results-oriented leader to guide its staff and drive its mission of becoming “a centre of excellence in professional legal training, research and consultancy.”

According to the notice, the CEO will serve as the head of the institution and report directly to the Board of Directors. The position is established under Section 14 of the Kenya School of Law Act, Cap. 16C, and the holder will be responsible for implementing the Board’s decisions in a timely and results-driven manner.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide strategic leadership, advise the Board on the institution’s strategy, implement policies and regulations, oversee corporate programmes, and ensure compliance with approved budgets. The CEO will also act as secretary to the Board, serve as the link between the Board and management, and ensure Board papers are properly prepared and submitted on time.

Other duties include recruiting and retaining qualified staff, promoting ethical practices and good governance, implementing risk management and business continuity plans, conducting examinations within the School’s mandate, safeguarding institutional assets, and ensuring compliance with all statutory obligations.

Applicants must have at least 15 years of work experience, including five years in senior management. They should also hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B), Master of Laws (LL.M), and Doctorate degree (PhD) in Law from recognized institutions, alongside a Post-Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. Candidates must be advocates of the High Court of Kenya, meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution, and demonstrate leadership and integrity. Additional qualifications, such as completion of a leadership course and computer proficiency, will be an added advantage.

The position offers a salary of up to Sh678,400 per month.

Interested candidates are required to submit their applications online through the School’s website at www.ksl.ac.ke under the careers section. The application deadline is September 30, 2025.
