Kenya U-23 team, the Emerging Stars, run riot, thumping visiting Mauritius 5-0 in the Afcon 2019 qualifying first round match played at the Kasarani Stadium Wednesday.

Goals from Jonestone Otieno, James Mazembe, Pistone Mutamba, Sidney Lokale and Joseph Okumu sealed the humongous win ahead of the second leg scheduled for Sunday in Port Louis.

The aggregate winner will sail through to the second round where Seychelles or Sudan awaits.

Stars totally outclassed the Islanders with their sleek passing game and dangerous winger play which proved highly effective for them.

Otieno opened the scoring with a thumping header off Yussuf Mainge’s corner kick delivery in the 12th minute before Mazembe doubled the lead at the half hour mark with another header from Teddy Osok’s right cross.

The homeboys headed into the breather with a healthy 2-0 lead.

Mutumba headed in the third in the 52nd minute from another cross with Sidney stretching the lead further with an easy tap in for the fourth two minutes later.

Captain Jeseph Okumu crowned the day with the fifth and the last with yet another header from a right cross.
