Legislators from the Maasai community on Monday issued the government with a 48 hour ultimatum to state their progress in investigations against NASA leader, Raila Odinga.
Led by Kajiado West Mp, Moses Ole Sakuda, the leaders want Raila’s inciting remarks looked into. They accused the offices of the Director of Public Prosecutions, National Cohesion and Integration Commission and Director of Criminal Investigations of failing to take action against the presidential candidate.
They want Raila to refrain from talking about sensitive issues like land that could threaten the community’s stability.
”No one is above the law. We are giving the agencies 48 hours to give a report on the status of the on going investigations if at all any. The remarks come at a highly sensitive political season,” said Sakuda.
Sakuda adviced the NASA team to steer clear the land issue in their next visit of the region.
” We are aware NASA principals are scheduled to tour Kajiado county tomorrow (today) and we demand that they keep off the matter,” he added.
Raila has however come out saying that he was misquoted and did not do anything wrong.
“What is it that I have said that demands investigations? There is nothing that I have said that demands investigations. My statements speak for themselves. So what are they investigating? Complete waste of time,” Raila said during a presser on Monday.
