The law society of Kenya (LSK) has asked the lands ministry to invalidate the digitization process that is meant to avoid corruption that has been synonymous with the lands office.
The LSK claims that they were nor consulted before rolling out of the digitization process yet they were major stakeholders.
According to the lawyers the advocates act under section 34 states that advocates are the only persons allowed to undertake conveyancing related issues in Kenya. The advocates claim that proceeding with this digitization will erode the sanctity of the lands registry system in Kenya.
The law society of Kenya has said without the checks and balances that the act provides,it would be difficult to verify and certify issues related to land and therefore the land registry system would be susceptible to fraud.

The lawyers through their President Allen Gichuhi said that there was no platform for E conveyancing that would legally allow the implementation of this platform. The also said that the resolve to obtain spousal consent online was fallacious.
The president of the LSK has asked the CS Lands Faridah Karoney to suspend the process and revert to the previous regime.
Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi has welcomed the move by the lands registry to go online telling off the advocates of being selfish and wanting to continue charge exorbitant conveyancing fees.
