A 43-year-old man died after being attacked by a swarm of bees in a village in Kitui County.

The incident happened on Sunday morning as Simon Kanyalo went to harvest honey at his farm in Nuu village, police said.

The bees attacked him fatally. He screamed for help and locals rushed to his rescue. But it was too late.

He was rescued and rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police said they were investigating the incident.

Elsewhere in Lungalunga, Nairobi, a man was electrocuted after he touched an illegally connected power cable.

The body of the man was found hanging on a naked wire he was holding at that time. The incident happened on Sunday December 28, 2025 morning.

He is said to have tried to cross a wall to a school compound when he touched a live naked wire. He was electrocuted and died on the spot.

Police were called to the scene and moved the body to the mortuary.

Police said they are investigating the incident. There is a high rate of illegal power connection in many informal settlements which exposes locals to the dangers of electrocution.

The government announced plans to rectify the situation by legally connecting the power in the said places. President William Ruto said Sh500 million had been set aside for the exercise to affect many informal settlements.

Elsewhere in Navakholo, Kakamega County, police are investigating the cause of a fire incident that destroyed several water pipes of unknown value.

The pipes were in a store at the local ministry of water offices, police said. Local officials said the fire broke out on December 28 morning before it spread fast destroying property.

The fire was contained minutes later after. A team of experts is investigating the incident.
