Detectives are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found dumped at a farm in Makuyu, Murang’a County.

The man was identified as John Gachoka Gichuhi, 40.

He lived alone at the home at the time his body was discovered, police said.

A neighbour went to the home only to find him murdered and dumped at the nearby farm on October 9, 2025.

The body was covered with his jacket which was found in a pool of blood. The motive of the murder is yet to be known, police said.

Police said the deceased had physical injuries on the head and his body was covered with a jacket.

A stone with some spot of blood was recovered at the scene covered with soil which was suspected to have been used.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Meanwhile, in Bangale, Tana River’s Takamba village, a man aged 40 died in an attack at their tent.

Unknown assailants raided the area and attacked residents leaving the man dead. The motive of the attack was not immediately known, police said.

The deceased was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said adding a second man was injured and is nursing wounds after the October 9, 2025 incident.

Police are investigating the incident. The body was moved to a local mortuary pending an autopsy.

In the neighbouring Bura area, four gunmen opened fire and killed a 30-year-old man in an attack.

Police said Muhamud Abdi Elema was shot in the upper arm and died on the spot at a watering point.

Police said they visited the scene and recovered two spent cartridges of 7.62mm ×39 special.

The team of police who visited the scene said they suspect the gunmen were out to retaliate the killing of one of their own last year.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.

There are fears of more retaliatory attacks in the area, police warned.
