A mob dramatically rounded up three men from their houses in Naivasha and stoned them to death in a bizarre incident.

The mob accused them of being leaders of robbery gangs in the area, police said.

Police said they were alerted of the incident long after the men had been tortured, stoned to death and their bodies set on fire on Sunday morning in Kayole village.

The mob escaped as police responded to the scene. The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending an identification and autopsy, police said.

Police said they are investigating murder in the incident. The police term mob lynching criminal and want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for processing and possible arraignment. Cases of mob lynching have been on the rise amid efforts to address the trend.

Police said they are investigating all reported cases.

And a 50-year-old woman was burnt and killed in a fire incident in Muguga area, Kiambu County.

The fire also destroyed a house the woman was in before it was contained by fire brigade team from Kiambu County.

Four children who were in the house were rescued and taken to the hospital in a stable condition.

Police said the cause of the Sunday dawn fire was not immediately established.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

And a miner was killed at a quarry in Metkei, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

Nelson Kiprono, 45 was at the site excavating construction stones when a wall collapsed on him.

His colleague who was there escaped with injuries. Police said Kiprono was fatally trapped in the Sunday afternoon incident in Kamwosor village.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.
