A 30-year-old woman and his eight-year-old son were burnt to death in a fire incident in Waithaka area, Dagoretti, Nairobi County.
The fire also burnt down their house on Sunday January 25 morning, police said.
The incident happened in the Jerusalem area. The charred remains of the woman identified as Martha Njuhi and her son were found long after the fire had been contained by locals and the fire engine from the county.
They were found near the door indicating they were trying to escape the scene when they were overwhelmed and burnt to death. The boy was a pupil at a local school, neighbours said as they mourned the two.
Police said they were yet to establish the cause of the fire and that the remains of the two were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
In Mbuinjeru, Embu County, police said they were investigating arson and murder after a man died in a fire incident in his house.
The incident happened in Kiviruri village on January 25 and left one Nicholas Nyaga, 54 dead.
His two children and wife managed to escape the scene. Police said they were pursuing leads into the incident.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
Police say fire incidents have been on the rise in urban areas and urged caution to stop the trend.
