    Muslim Leaders Deny Endorsing Uhuru, Accuse PSCU Of Circulating False Information

    Muslim leaders have denied endorsing Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election bid.

    According to a letter circulating on social media, Supreme Council of Kenya (SUPKEM) Chairman, Abdulghafur Hemed Saleh denied endorsing the Jubilee party presidential candidate.

    ” SUPKEM can seek audience with the high office of the President or any other political leader in government or opposition. This is done only in matters of particular interest to Muslims in Kenya and matters that are generally important to the socio-economic welfare of Kenyans,” read the letter in part.

    The Chairman continued to accuse the Presidential Strategic Communications Unit of circulating false reports both in electronic and print media.

    SUPKEM LETTER

    Saleh claims that the Uhuru Kenyatta has in the past extended invitations to other organizations composed of Muslim clerics, politicians and even the Matatu Welfare.

    The SUPKEM chair also added that the visit to the house on the hill on the 24th May was not a political meeting saying, ”The National Executive Committee is the only organ mandated to carry out such a weighty policy position.”

    The letter dated 5th June states that meeting with the President was only to receive the 3.6 tons of dates for the Holy Month of Ramadhan.
