Deputy President William Ruto’s son, Nick Ruto was on Wednesday admitted to the bar.

Nick, who bears a striking resemblance to his father was earlier on in the day admitted to the bar as Advocates of the high court of Kenya by Chief Justice David Maraga alongside 223 other law graduands.

The younger Ruto was in December 2018 gazetted as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, qualifying him to argue a case in court.

While Nick and the others celebrate their win, the Law Society of Kenya is investigating the mass failure of bar exams at the Kenya School of Law.

According to the Star, out of 1500 candidates who sat for the exam, only 290 qualified to practice law.

The daily further reports that a report by a task force chaired by lawyer Fred Ojiambo released in 2017 showed that from 2009 to 2016 only 7,530 out of 16,086 students passed the bar exams while 8,549 failed.

A 53 per cent failure rate.
